Rain Drops

As a maker of rain gauges, I am a fan of all forms of precipitation and I've always felt that the clinging water droplet  is one of the finest forms. Delicate and temporary, they dangle for an unspecified and unpredictable amount of time then fall with a satisfying plop. Charming, really, the water droplet.

But today I discovered a series of photographs that show water droplets in a whole new light.

For many years, I exhibited at high-end American craft shows. The glass artists were the rock stars of these shows, standing cooly in their traffic-stopping booths. Dramatic, fragile and technically complex, the work in the glass aisle always intimidated me. These photographs look remarkably similar to some of the glass art that so impressed me.

But without the intimidation factor.
